Job Description:

Nalco Water, An Ecolab Company has an immediate need for a Construction / Refinery Engineer at the manufacturing plant site in Fresno, TX. This role primarily coordinates Capital Project execution and will also be expected to coordinate with Daily Maintenance Planning and Scheduling. The main duties include creating and maintaining work execution schedules, organizing, and participating in shareholder meetings and ensuring all deadlines for capital projects and daily maintenance activities are met on time and within budget. This role would coordinate with all departments at the site as needed, with specific focus on coordinating work with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering.

Responsibilities

A Construction Engineer should be able to work closely with project engineers, maintenance supervisors, and contractor leads to create comprehensive action plans concerning resources and timeframes for projects and for maintenance work. The following are additional duties and responsibilities that the coordinator should be able to do:

  • Participate in project design meetings and propose improvements if necessary. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, including P&IDs
  • Plan and manage, project schedules and new information.
  • Supervise current projects and coordinate all Contractor team members to keep workflow on track.
  • Manage project-related paperwork by ensuring all necessary materials are current, properly filed and stored.
  • Direct project correspondences by preparing and reviewing project proposals, memos, meeting minutes and emails.
  • Communicate with Stakeholders to identify and define project requirements, scope, and objectives.
  • Oversee certain stages of projects. They're typically in charge of the various tasks involved in the implementation of a project, like scheduling, organizing, record-keeping and handling information flow from the Project Manager to the Contractors.
  • Manage maintenance-driven programs and repairs/restoration work
  • Manage API inspections as part of the Maintenance MI program and as part of the Projects schedule.
  • Serve as one of the key leading members in plant outages/turnarounds and help develop the overall schedule
  • Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
  • Assist in field surveying and compiling as-built data
  • Supervise field operations and uphold permit adherence and safety life critical procedures and standards
  • Assist in the maintenance of basic project recordkeeping and correspondence functions such as daily reports, photographs, requests for information (RFIs)
  • Coordinate with operations and other departments as needed

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management or related degree, or equivalent experience in a construction-related position
  • 2+ years of related professional experience in the construction field at a chemical manufacturing plant or refinery
  • Plant Construction Engineering Experience (industrial construction i.e chemical manufacturing, refinery, oil/gas construction etc).
  • Familiar with piping systems, tanks, vessels, pumps, and other plant or refinery equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, including P&IDs
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel (Microsoft Projects would be a plus)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work outside in the chemical plant consistently day-to-day
  • SAP, Microsoft Projects, AutoCAD are all a plus but not required
  • Able to red-line P&IDs are a plus but not required
  • Regular, reliable attendance from start of work day to end of work day for construction (alignment with contractor construction hours)

Annual or Hourly Compensation Range

The pay range for this position is $83,600.00 - $125,400.00. Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation, such as experience, education, training, geography, etc. We comply with all minimum wage and overtime laws.
