**Position Overview:**

This job position is part of the Antarctic Infrastructure and Modernization for Science (AIMS) project. This is an initiative of the National Science Foundation's (NSF) United States Antarctic Program (USAP) and is a major capital investment effort to support the United States' world-class science program in Antarctica. The infrastructure modernization being proposed under the AIMS project is to ensure that McMurdo Station remains a viable platform for supporting Antarctic science for the next 35 to 50 years. Parsons is the designer and builder for the Antarctic Infrastructure Improvement (AIMS) efforts under the Antarctic Support Contract with the National Science Foundation. You will be involved in the largest construction project ever performed on the continent of Antarctica.

**You will work remotely at home during the off-season, and then deploy through New Zealand to Antarctica and will be part of the on-site team to deliver this flagship project for the NSF and the United States during site activities. (Projected deployment dates of Feb 2025 - Sept 2025)**

Parsons is adding a Mechanical Field Engineer position to support the delivery of the AIMS Lodging Project. Ideal candidate should be able to work under general directions and willing to relocate to project site location in Antarctica (seasonal) as required. Typical projects range up to $30 million in total installed cost.

**Responsibilities:**

+ Ensure adherence to Project Safety policies.

+ Review and understand project schedule.

+ Oversees and facilitates the installation of equipment and components for a project to ensure contractors are fulfilling all obligations and that work is carried out according to approved contracts, specifications, and schedules.

+ Serves as a liaison with project management reporting on inspections, subcontracting, progress, and delays.

+ Participates in project meetings and facilitates regularly scheduled meetings related to construction planning & execution and deliverables for the project.

+ Support integration of project data such as but not limited to schedule, estimate, documentation, cost reports and performance data etc.

+ Interpret designs and drawings for technicians.

+ Track RFIs, Shop Drawings, As-built drawings and other project documents.

+ Proactively identifies and works to resolve any site issues that may impede the project delivery.

+ Provides technical knowledge and input to assist installing contractors.

**Qualifications:**

+ Bachelor's Degree in construction engineering or related field (or equivalent years of related additional experience).

+ Demonstrated understanding of basic engineering and construction concepts, practices, and procedures.

+ 10+ years overall experience with at least 3+ years of experience in field civil & infrastructure construction focused in the areas of mechanical and plumbing construction preferred.

+ Prior experience with federal projects a plus.

Salary Range:

$96,400.00 - $168,700.00
