Job Description:

Talbert, Bright, and Ellington (TBE) is a consulting engineering firm with offices in Charlotte, NC, and Columbia, SC. TBE provides planning, design, and construction administration services to airport owners (sponsors) in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and other states in the Southeast.

TBE is seeking full-time roadway, airport, and building construction inspectors for various airfield and landside projects at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT). If you want to join our construction inspection team, please send your resume to ...@tbeclt.com.

Duties and Responsibilities

Observe construction activities and field verify that all aspects of the work comply with the contract documents for each assigned project.

Document construction activities and submit regularly scheduled reports for each assigned project. Reports may include but are not limited to performance against the approved schedule and safety plan, observations in general, testing activities, conversations, correspondence, contractor-specific activities, materials incorporated, quantities of work completed, and compliance of materials and equipment with the approved submittals.

Participate in scheduled meetings with CLT staff, construction contractor, and project designer during the construction phase of each assigned project.

Review contractors pay applications for each assigned project.

Follow all required safety and security procedures.

Other duties and responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

8 years of experience in field inspections involving construction contracts OR associate degree in a related field and 5 years of experience in field inspections involving construction OR bachelors degree and 2 years of experience in civil engineering, construction, and inspection.

Ability to read and understand construction plans, specifications, and other contract documents of various disciplines.

Ability to use MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).

Valid drivers license in your state of residence.

Ability to pass a background check and obtain required airport credentials.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to read, write, and speak English at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degree in civil engineering and 2+ years of experience in civil engineering, construction, and inspection.

Experience with e-Builder and Fieldwire.

Experience with FAA construction methods, materials, standards, and specifications.

Experience with NCDOT construction methods, materials, standards, and specifications.

Ability to read and interpret airfield plans and specifications and thoroughly understand complex construction means and methods.
