Position Overview:

As a Construction Site Supervisor, you will ensure that construction activities are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards. Youll be responsible for monitoring progress, solving issues, and working closely with engineers, contractors, and inspectors to complete projects successfully.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule Management: Review and update construction schedules, identify potential conflicts, and evaluate contractor proposals to resolve schedule delays.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical interpretation of construction drawings and specifications, coordinating with the project or resident engineer to address any clarifications needed during construction.
  • Contractor Submittals: Oversee contractor submittal reviews, ensuring they are properly tracked, distributed, and received before construction milestones.
  • Quality Assurance: Interpret contract documents for QA/QC purposes, ensuring compliance with technical requirements and standards.
  • Change Management: Lead the evaluation of change requests, claims, and cost proposals from contractors, collaborating with the project manager to prepare necessary change orders.
  • Issue Tracking: Document and track all issues, proposed changes, change orders, and claims, ensuring that site conditions are monitored and unforeseen changes are addressed quickly.
  • Project Documentation: Manage project documentation, records, and reporting to ensure all paperwork is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with contract requirements.
  • Field Inspections: Supervise and perform field inspections, schedule testing, and ensure all quality standards are met, including soil and concrete testing.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of inspectors and field staff, ensuring high safety, quality, and ethical compliance are always upheld.
  • Coordination & Communication: Serve as the onsite liaison between the owner, contractor, and project engineer, facilitating clear communication and swift resolution of issues.
  • Construction Meetings: Conduct pre-construction, weekly, and unique construction meetings, documenting and distributing detailed minutes to all stakeholders.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of field experience in construction supervision, with solid expertise in managing multiple disciplines on-site.
  • Technical Expertise: Certifications in concrete, compaction, and civil tests preferred. Hands-on experience with soil and concrete testing, water mainline, or similar piping inspections.
  • Education: A high school diploma or GED is required. An Associates degree in a construction-related discipline or craft apprenticeship is preferred.
  • Contract & Drawing Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and specifications, providing technical oversight and ensuring contract compliance.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively, fostering collaboration and maintaining high productivity in a high-paced environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong ability to anticipate potential construction issues and proactively work with all parties to resolve conflicts and mitigate risks.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Excellent organizational skills to manage project documentation and reporting requirements, ensuring clear communication across all stakeholders.
  • Safety & Compliance: Strong focus on upholding safety, quality, and ethical standards on the job site, ensuring compliance with division policies and contractual commitments.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Ability to work in a high-paced construction environment.
  • Must be comfortable supervising field testing and construction activities.
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary to meet project deadlines.
