Over the years, CES expanded its services to include utility management, construction at-risk, and civil engineering services.We are hiring a Construction Inspector Trainee to support multiple clients and locations throughout Virginia to include Richmond, Salem, Lynchburg, and Bristol. This is an entry-level position with great growth potential for individuals who enjoy being outside on construction projects, have the ability to communicate effectively, pay attention to details, and can develop great documentation skills.Position Summary:The Construction Inspector Trainee will be responsible for ensuring contractors' compliance through reviewing, interpreting, and enforcing plans and contract documents for efficient and timely inspection of the contractor's work and additional duties including:Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Plan, coordinate, inspect, and oversee project inspection activities of roadway, structure, and bridge maintenance projects.Monitor contractors and schedules to ensure quality control and contract compliance of moderate to complex construction projects.Apply knowledge and experience toward the inspection of roadways and bridges using VDOT standards, specifications, and procedures.Apply engineering principles in the inspection and documentation of construction activities.Recommend changes to construction plans to meet field conditions or provide cost savings.Maintain comprehensive project records and documentation using the VDOT Materials Book & project management software.Complete testing of materials using VDOT testing procedures.Apply Best Management Practices to environmental inspection activities using DEQ standards and specifications.Apply Best Management Practices to safety activities.Communicate with various stakeholders, including Localities and VDOT.Assist with the development of change orders, investigations, and the analysis of Notices of Intent to File Claims.Education, Certifications, and Experience:The Construction Inspector Trainee minimum qualifications for this role include the following:High school diploma or GED.Basic math skills.Ability to complete documentation for daily activities which includes reports, charts, sketches, and taking photographs.Experience operating computer equipment, software programs including Microsoft Office Suite, and field-testing equipment.Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.Must be able and willing to work day and night shifts.Able to pass a criminal background check.Preferred Qualifications:The ideal candidate will have any of the following:Experience writing reports or providing documentation.CES Consulting, LLC offers excellent career opportunities for continued professional, educational, and personal growth.
