About the Role
MWH is seeking a Construction Intern to join us on various projects and offices in the Colorado region. As a Construction Intern, this person will be an integral part of our project teams, taking on complex tasks and responsibilities, and contributing to the success of a range of projects and initiatives, ranging in size, scope, and value.
Learning Opportunities
Project Management:
- Assist with project controls, change orders, RFI's, and other construction administration duties.
- Prepare look ahead schedules with information from subcontractors.
- Assist in generation of various reports such as submittal and RFI logs, and with document control.
- Process Submittals and RFIs.
- Update working drawings with RFIs and Changes. Keep this set up to date to ensure the team is working with the most current information.
- Perform simple calculations.
- Provide technical support for construction effort
Project Scheduling:
- Assist in creating and updating construction schedules, incorporating changes, delays, and unforeseen circumstances
- Monitor project progress and identify areas where adjustments may be needed
- Assist in analyzing project data to identify ways to optimize scheduling efficiency
- Support the scheduling team in providing accurate and timely reports to management and stakeholders
Estimating:
- Support cost estimates on proposals, projects, and studies to help ensure that the content of the estimate is complete, accurate, and meets the requirements of the Estimating Team.
- Review solicitation documents such as specifications and drawings to learn how to identify risks and opportunities related to competitive pricing.
- Assist the Estimating Team with an independent assessment of an estimate's accuracy (upon completion of the estimate and summarization of all detailed man-hours, material, construction, and home office costs).
- Help coordinate the performance of pricing structure development and application to takeoffs, derived quantities, quantity assumption, and cost allowances.
- Obtain and verify construction quotations for facilitation of construction projects, addenda, and contract changes.
- Compile and analyze bids.
- Help develop reports for all review processes.
- Actively research and solicit supply chain vendors for information.
Basic Qualifications
- In progress toward earning a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Marketing, or related degree.
- Experienced with complete Microsoft Office Suite, excellent writing and communications skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal abilities for working in diverse team environments with staff, clients, and stakeholders.
- Experience with/aptitude for construction and/or mechanical processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship experience in the AEC industry.
Compensation
- The anticipated salary for this position is between $23 - 26/hr.
