Salary: $42.83 - $52.16 Hourly Location : Marysville, WA Job Type: Full-time regular Job Number: 00793 Department: Public Works Opening Date: 10/09/2024 Closing Date: Continuous Position Summary This position is responsible for coordinating the material, equipment, and personnel needs to perform the tasks of Utility Construction division under the direction and supervision of the division manager.This is the second level position in the lead worker job series, which requires a higher level of technical skills and performs a wider variety of responsibilities than the Lead I position. Positions in this class perform the more complex and specialized tasks requiring advanced technical skills in their field of specialty. Work is performed within established procedures; however, incumbents complete tasks independently and apply established guidelines and alternatives to make judgments and decisions. Schedules and prioritizes the repair, installation, troubleshooting, upgrading and adjustments of a variety of drinking water system infrastructure including, but not limited to: piping, fire hydrants, in-line valves, water services, water meters, appurtenances, and auxiliary equipment. Leads work of crew in the field to ensure that work is done properly and safely, including providing directions, instructions, and training to crew members, and reviewing their work. Coordinates installation and repair of water distribution mains including hydrants, valves, fittings, blow-offs and services Coordinates construction, installation and repair of municipal stormwater and sewer infrastructure projects that are substantial in nature, scope and duration. Coordinates water main shut-downs for utility construction needs including customer notification; Prioritizes and schedules utility construction activities in collaboration with other divisions/departments. . Prepares work schedules and assigns tasks to ensure completion of projects/tasks efficiently and on time. Reviews design plans and specifications relating to hydrants, water mains, blow-offs, water services, air/vacs and valves. Coordinates work in the right-of-way, including preparing/completing right-of-way permit applications, developing TESC plans, traffic control plans, and locating work areas through WA811. Orders materials, prioritizes, plans and schedules projects and estimates time, material, equipment, and personnel needed to perform assigned work and work of crew. Coordinates with other divisions/departments and equipment/materials suppliers to ensure completion of projects/tasks efficiently and on time. Operates equipment used by the division in backup/support as needed; reports need for major repair to manager/supervisor. Monitors SCADA system to maximize distribution system performance and reliability in backup or support as needed. Performs field work in back-up or support as needed. Responsible for work zone safety, including signage, confined space permitting, etc. Prepares, maintains, and updates charts, files, maps, reports, and other records related to assigned duties; submits work orders. May assist Division Manager in the preparation of the annual budget related to assigned duties and crews. Qualifications A combination of the experience, education, and training listed below which provides an equivalent background to perform the work of this position. Experience:
- Four years of experience performing a variety of the essential duties of the position or a related position in applicable specialty area.
Education and Training:
- High school diploma or GED.
Licenses or Certificates:
- Must possess, or have the ability to possess within one month of hire date, a Washington State Driver's License.
- Must possess, or have the ability to possess within six months of hire date:
class A Washington State Commercial Driver's License without airbrakes restriction and with tanker endorsements first aid and CPR certifications flagger certification confined space certification competent person certifications - Water Distribution Manager II certification; Water Distribution Manager III certification preferred.
- Washington Cross Connection Specialist certification preferred.

Indoors, the noise level is usually moderate; outdoors the noise level may be moderate to loud. This position works a regular schedule, however, incumbents may be called in to work at irregular times in emergency situations or during planned and unplanned events. In these circumstances, incumbents may be required to be available for call-out and stand-by duty as needed.
