Overview:

This position is a field based role and will be on site and/or travel daily to job sites in Central New York State. Current job sites are: Mayfield NY, Lowville NY, Middletown NY and Sidney NY.

The Construction Manager provides overall direction and management for our utility construction operations. The Construction Manager is the leader / manager of construction team that may include the Craftsman, Field Engineers, and General Foreman. This position involves a high level of responsibility requiring strong management and supervision skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all onsite personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, etc. Document all violations, notify project management, recommend/implement corrective actions as required.
  • Manages and ensures customer's expectations for quality, schedule, and budget are satisfied
  • Direct management of the operations portion of the project and interface with the customer and internal stakeholders
  • Provide the customer updates on operations portions of the program
  • Strives to improve the program's margin
  • Reports program performance data as required to management and customers
  • Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives, AE representatives, other contractors, etc.
  • In coordination with project management; plan and supervise onsite functions (scheduling, engineering, material control, and may provide day-to-day direction of onsite administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, etc.).
  • Supervise craft employees and/or other contractors as required by the contract.
  • Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required.
  • Assist project management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, standards, etc.
  • Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials & equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
  • Perform additional assignments per Supervisor's direction.
Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field preferred
  • 5+ years utility construction experience in relevant operations management, construction management, and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction, or equivalent combination of technical training and Operations Management experience.
  • Experience in all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods); craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations; engineering, cost control schedules and safety required.
  • Experience in understanding of industry practices, processes, and standards, and their impact on project activities.
  • Familiar with scheduling software applications (Primavera, MS Project) a plus
  • 100% overnight travel required
  • Able to travel for extended periods of time at various locations.

Salary range for this position is $91,000 to $130,000 depending on experience and education.
