Job Description:

Buffalo Tungsten is hiring for a Construction Manager! We are a world leading supplier of high-quality powders based on the metal Tungsten. Our products are used in the manufacturing of high-tech components in the tooling, automotive, aerospace, energy, infrastructure, electronics and mining industry. The raw materials for our complex production processes come from our own mine, other concentrates and the recycling of production waste and scrap. Our company is a strategically important part of the global Sandvik Group and together, we are on an exciting journey of increased sustainability. This position will be a one-year contract that is on site in Buffalo, New York. What you will be doing: You will manage industrial plant expansion project, coordinate detailed construction activities to ensure that all work is in completed on time, and meet expansion project goals and objectives. Main Responsibilities •Adhere to all established safety policies and procedures •Prepare and manage time plans, resources, contractors related to construction projects •Provide direction and communicate expectations and safety policies to contractors and vendors •Ensure availability of required materials, tools and equipment needed to ensure timely construction •Respond efficiently and effectively to work delays, emergencies, and other project disruptions •Manpower planning of site installation activities for both internal and external resources •Be on the shop floor daily during construction - including bid walks, preconstruction walks, in-progress visits, punch walks, and closeouts •Attend status and coordination meetings with contractors and vendors •Report installation status verbally on a daily basis to the Director of Engineering •Report installation status in written form (MS project or similar) on a weekly basis including timing forecast for mechanical completion and construction completion •Support quality inspections of materials and equipment before, during, and after installation •Support equipment startup after construction completion during the commissioning period •Responsible for occupational safety and accident prevention during construction •Conduct and document inspections throughout the construction process, ensuring that the work environment is acceptable, and that tools and equipment are in good working conditions •Act as a contact person in case of external safety inspections •Adhere to legal regulations, building and safety codes, and other requirements Requirements: •Proficient in worksite safety practices and ability to hold all stakeholders accountable to 'Safety First' culture and requirements •Strong leadership and communication skills with the assertiveness necessary to respond to issues, resolve differences as they occur, and keep contractors on schedule •Working knowledge of scheduling methods such as Gantt charts, project flow charts, network diagrams, etc. •Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work in order to meet overall objectives and deadlines •Attention to detail and problem solving skills •Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple construction projects simultaneously •Understanding of large scale equipment installation in an industrial setting •Ability to prioritize work and coordinate schedules of contractors to maximize efficiency based on critical dependencies •Excellent written and verbal communication skills •Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task •Collaborate/Teamwork •Reliability & Accountability EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / LANGUAGE •Minimum three years' experience managing new-construction industrial projects •Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred •Professional certification, such as CCM (certified construction manager), AC (associate constructor), or CPC (certified professional constructor) preferred •Working knowledge of construction methods and technologies, building codes and best practices for industrial construction •Ability to understand technical drawings and translate into practical applications •Ability to assess and determine if installation fully meets design expectations and quality standards •Ability to read and interpret policies, procedures, compliance requirements, and other materials •Ability to effectively communicate to managers, supervisors, team leads & other employees/stakeholders to address issues and related corrective actions •Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently TECHNICAL •Proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, MS Visio) •Construction Management references must be provided on request OTHER INFORMATION •Work schedule Monday to Friday during normal business hours between 8:00am and 4:30pm In addition, the employee may be assigned other duties within the area of their competence. Pay Range : 105k - 150k based on experience
