Duties
Construction Manager is responsible for the management of the construction of water, sewer, road or drainage projects.
* Supervises and coordinates with the Resident Project Representative (RPR) on a daily basis. Provides training for the RPR.
* Prepares and processes documents for the execution of a project including but not limited to assistance with the contract, notice to proceed, pay applications, change orders and project close out documents.
* Manages the warranty follow up observation process.
* Coordinates with contractor, other City departments, private utilities and public as needed.
* Provides review and comments of the design of construction projects.
* Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications
AT TIME OF HIRE OR PROMOTION TO THIS CLASS:
1. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and (6) six years experience or (10) ten or more years experience in the field of civil engineering, construction management or construction technology;
2. Must attend and obtain continuing education courses and certifications as determined by the City Engineer. If assigned to projects which include water or sewer, the employee must have or obtain within 18 months of employment Class 1 & 2 operators license in Wastewater Treatment and Water Distribution
3. Ability to apply engineering principles to achieve objectives; ability to interpret engineering plan design and recommend for approval; ability to perform project cost analysis and ability to implement state and local government agency policies, technical specifications and codes.
4. Must also have the ability to maintain professional, working relationships; effective work habits; monitoring and reporting projects progress; and ability to write concisely.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
* Tasks are performed in a sedentary position at workstation with occasional walking required.
* Requires extensive use of computer, printer and other office and telecommunications equipment.
* The employee must exert light physical effort, occasionally involving lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of objects and materials (mostly file boxes) of up to thirty-five pounds.
* Requires visual perception and ability to communicate orally.
* Job must be performed with or without accommodations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
* Tasks are regularly performed in an office environment where the noise level is moderately quiet.
* Limited exposure to extreme weather conditions and limited risk of injury.
* May have normal exposure to dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise.
* May work in direct contact with the public and other personnel.
