JOB DESCRIPTIONExplain what the scope of the work/project is? Project Overview, deliverables (what is this person responsible for). The scope of this project involves converting a power plant from coal to natural gas, a large and complex initiative. The candidate's responsibilities include 1. Project Overview: Primary Objective: Oversee the coal-to-natural gas conversion at the power plant. Key Focus Areas: Civil, electrical, and mechanical work, with emphasis on piping, welding, and schematic understanding. 2 - Deliverables and Responsibilities Technical Oversight: Review, interpret, and work with technical drawings, ensuring familiarity with AutoCAD and Autodesk software. Collaborate on civil, electrical, and mechanical components of the project. 3. Site Management: Act as an onsite liaison between the project manager (PM), contractors, and plant personnel. Oversee daily construction activities, ensuring alignment with project goals. 4. Safety and Compliance: Conduct regular site inspections to verify adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies. Monitor and address any potential safety concerns, reporting to the PM. 5. Progress Tracking: Track project milestones, document progress, and report any issues or required mitigations to the PM. 6. Specialized Knowledge: Leverage experience in power plant operations, welding, piping schematics, and related technical areas to ensure project success. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, site management skills, and proactive communication to drive the project's progress while maintaining safety and quality standards. What does a typical day look like? Typical Day for the Onsite Role at the Pawnee Plant - Morning Start: Begin the day with a toolbox talk to discuss safety protocols, daily objectives, and address any immediate concerns or updates with contractors and workers. Review the day's schedule and ensure alignment with the overall project plan. Communication and Coordination: Act as the onsite liaison, maintaining regular communication between the Project Manager (PM), contractors, and plant personnel. Facilitate scheduled updates with contractors to discuss progress, identify any challenges, and ensure alignment on upcoming tasks. Site Inspections and Oversight: Conduct site inspections to monitor construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and project standards. Evaluate work in progress (e.g., piping, electrical, or civil tasks) and ensure adherence to project specifications and schematics. Address and mitigate any issues or risks identified during inspections. Technical Tasks: Review and interpret technical drawings (AutoCAD/Autodesk) as needed to support ongoing construction. Provide guidance or clarification to contractors on schematic and welding requirements, piping layouts, and other technical elements. Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Track project milestones, document daily activities, and identify any delays or problems. Communicate progress and escalate concerns or proposed solutions to the PM during weekly strategy/problem-solving sessions or as needed. End-of-Day Review: Ensure all work areas are secured and safe for the next day. Prepare a summary of the day's activities, including safety incidents, project progress, and any concerns, for reporting to the PM. This full-time onsite role is highly hands-on, requiring close collaboration with contractors and a proactive approach to safety, quality assurance, and problem-solving.Describe work environment / team culture (supportive/collaborative, teamwork or individual contributor)? Highly collaborative role in that the resource will act as a liaison between site/construction crews and project managers to ensure that the project is moving forward.What are the work hours/shift (standard, evening, full time/part time, OT required, on-call for 24/7 operation)? Resource is expected to start at a 40 hour per week schedule and once construction starts, may move to 12 hour days 6 days per week.If you expect a resource to work OT, can you provide an estimate on the average amount of OT hours they would work? OT will be required. 12 hours per day 6 days per week.What are the top 3-5 skills and qualifications (technology/application/software, etc.) required? Technical and Industry Expertise - Proficiency in MS Office Applications: Strong skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook for documentation, reporting, and communication. Technical Knowledge in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Work: Emphasis on piping, welding, and schematic interpretation. Hands-on understanding of power plant operations and related technical areas. Familiarity with Design Software: Experience with AutoCAD and other Autodesk software tools for project design and review. Leadership and Project Management - Proven Leadership Abilities: Experience managing large-scale, complex projects. Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams effectively in a dynamic environment. Project Management Expertise: Preference for demonstrated success in past projects rather than years of experience alone. Skilled in maintaining safety and quality standards while driving project progress. Site Management and Communication - Site Management Skills: Capable of overseeing on-site operations, particularly in environments such as power plants. Proactive problem-solving and adaptability to dynamic site conditions. Proactive Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with stakeholders, teams, and contractors. Experience/proven track record with broad knowledge/ skill set with associated disciplines.What non-technical skills are necessary (i.e., such as communication, problem solving, team player)? Strong communication skills, leadership/mentoring skills. Ability to be self-driven to engage and drive a team.Ideal candidate background and how many years required?
