Are you a seasoned construction professional with a passion for safety and quality? We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager/Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to join an established and growing employee-owned company based in Huntsville, Alabama. Since this is a travel position, the Construction Manager/Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) may live anywhere in the continental U.S. If you have 5 to 10+ years of experience in construction and safety management, we want to hear from you! The salary range for this position is $80-120K, based on experience and qualifications. About the Role As the Construction Manager/SSHO, you will be the driving force behind the success of multiple construction projects. You will lead teams, manage subcontractors, and work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Clients to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within scope. This role is pivotal in ensuring high standards of safety and quality on all project sites. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee construction sites, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
  • Manage multiple projects, coordinating employees and subcontractors.
  • Interpret construction blueprints, submittals, and technical documentation to ensure design specifications are followed.
  • Prepare and review Requests for Information, Proposals, and Change Orders.
  • Ensure all work complies with specifications, approved manuals, procedures, and engineering practices.
  • Assist in change order negotiations and schedule updates.
  • Monitor project progress through detailed reports on status, costs, and potential changes.
  • Conduct client meetings to communicate project progress and address concerns.
  • Enforce safety, health, and environmental standards through audits and inspections.
  • Analyze accident reports and lead incident investigations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Lead safety training sessions to maintain regulatory compliance.
What We're Looking For: To be considered, you must have at least five years of experience in construction management and safety supervision. The position requires that you are willing and able to travel and be away from home for extended periods, with occasional weekend trips home. Other requirements:
  • OSHA 30 Hour Certification
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Strong knowledge of construction technology and safety regulations.
  • Experience in managing budgets, project controls, and risk assessment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with MS Office, scheduling software, and tools like Primavera.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Background in HVAC, Plumbing, or Electrical design-build construction.
  • Government project experience
  • Certification in Construction Quality Management
  • EM 385-1-1 Awareness Training
  • Trade licenses (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical)
