We live it every day.Job SummaryThe Construction Manager's scope of responsibility within Renewable Energy Group requires multi-level project and personnel supervision over a variety of tasks and crews involving close coordination of subcontractors and suppliers on Utility-Scale PV build-out Solar Projects. Examples of this would be supervision of multiple Superintendents and Senior Superintendents and their current projects and field crews. This position will require willingness to travel and work on remote projects.Essential Duties and Responsibilities All duties and responsibilities include the following; however, other duties may be assigned. Oversee the review of all project schedules assigned with the Project Directors, Vice President of Pre-Construction, and the project management teams to comprehend details of the project plans, specifications, schedule and bid proposal. Delegate orientation of the assigned Project Superintendent(s) and/or Foremen to outline their specific project duties. Coordinate all Superintendent assignments on the project including Staffing and advise on Scheduling, Submittals (i.e., materials, RFI's, change orders, pay requests), Quality control, assist with the project submittal process as requested. Confirm notification of subcontractors and suppliers to review the schedule of the project. Monitor potential changes to contract, project conditions and scope of work. Provide documentation as requested. Advise the Vice President/Area Manager and/or Project Manager of possible claims or disputes and provide documentation as requested. Oversee the submission of required company documents (i.e., timesheets, delivery tickets, etc.) by the Superintendent(s) and/or Foremen. Administer to all personnel issues of subordinates as it pertains to company expectations and policies related to field operations including: The mediation and resolution of conflicts. If unable to achieve satisfactory resolution, then involve the Vice President/Area Manager. Consultation with the Vice President/Area Manager regarding layoffs/termination. Demonstrating and promoting positive attitudes. Communicating and working respectfully with others. Utilizing and enforcing adherence to proper intra-company communication channels. Clarification and enforcement of corporate and project specific policies and procedures. Production Tracking. Obtain daily production information from Project Superintendent and/or Foremen and distribute to the Construction Manager weekly. Monitor jobsite production rates to ensure bid productions and strategy are being met. Track the project schedule and keep the Project Manager informed of progress. Discuss project equipment schedule projections with the Project Manager. Attend all project Owner meetings. Submit required information for the preparation of pay applications. Review job cost reports with the Project Manager to assure accuracy and address any deviations from project estimations. Attend the project close-out meeting as requested. Set expectations of employees with respect to personal development and succession planning initiatives. Monitor all daily activities of assigned projects. Provide direction and oversight to the Project Superintendent(s) and/or Foreman as it pertains to their specific project duties. Consult with Project Superintendent(s) and/or Foremen on the daily needs of the following: Manpower, Equipment, Layout, Materials, Sub-contractors. Discuss with Construction Manager the manpower and equipment requirements, shortage or changes. Allocate r Coordinate daily line-up information for all assigned projects and report this to your Project Manager. Coordinate with your Project Manager any needs for field survey/engineering/GPS files. Recognize equipment abuse and provide guidance to any project superintendent and/or foreman, or field maintenance personnel, and, if necessary, to the hourly employees assigned to your project. Implement and comply with the company safety program with a positive attitude towards project safety for all personnel and the general public. Communicate safety and compliance concerns to the Area Safety Director. Report all incidents and/or accidents to the Area Safety Director and Project Manager immediately upon occurrence. Complete post-accident/incident report and forward to the Safety Director immediately. Facilitate and record weekly toolbox talks and complete project safety and compliance forms as required. Perform daily safety jobsite walk-a-round and complete necessary documents as required by the contract specifications.Knowledge/Skills/AbilityAbility to understand detailed construction projects plans, schedules and estimates, read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, and specifications, calculate square footage, volumes and percentages using a personal computer or calculator, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, prepare and update project schedules, transmittals and submittals using personal computer software, manage large groups of personnel and to accomplish desired results through subordinate levels of management with little or no supervision.EducationBachelor's degree in a Construction related discipline, Business Administration, Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.ExperienceAt least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in construction and management Utility-Scale PV build-out Solar Projects preferably at least 50-100MW size projects.
