We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and practices, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and as a team with the current accounting and other departments. Candidate will report directly to the controller and president of a closely held corporation.Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Perform credit card reconciliations
- Payroll and related activities and reports
- Monthly Use Tax Multi State reporting
- 1099 / W-2 and related activities & reports
- Cost Accounting/Inventory Management
- Cost Variance review
- Product Pricing
- Database set up and upkeep
- Fixed assets and Depreciation schedules
- Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable experience
- Taxation and Auditing
- Maintain general ledger accounts
- Analyze financial statements to ensure company compliance with GAAP guidelines
- Complete Month-end and Year-end closing and procedures
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
- Conduct internal audits to identify potential errors or discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Provide financial analysis and support to management as needed
- Utilize software (ERP) to record and track Financial/ HR / Payroll transactions
- Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and regulations
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve processes through standardization or automation.
