Construction Project Engineer - Salina, KS Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a Construction Project Engineer to join our Facilities Department team. This role will perform a wide range of construction tasks including new-build projects and remodels within existing Great Plains Manufacturing facilities. This position will be based in Salina, KS and will include some day travel requirements within Kansas to support the efficient production operations within all Great Plains Manufacturing locations. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement engineering projects, including defining the project philosophy, activities, milestones, and staff requirements
- Review project designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications
- Coordinate preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents and bid packages
- Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications and drawing releases
- Coordinate staffing, including internal staff and outside contractors, and oversee project personnel specific to phases or aspects of projects such as technical studies, project design, preparation of specifications and technical plans
- Develop and maintain a schedule for assigned projects, interface with departments to provide project status reports and ensure department needs are met and adjust schedules accordingly, as needed
- Develop and maintain a budget for assigned projects and control expenditures within each project budget
- Provide progress reports and status reports of project milestones to departments and management
- Effectively present information to management and public groups
- Follow all Great Plains Manufacturing and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment
- Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environments
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction or related field; or four or more years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
- Superior critical thinking, practical problem-solving skills and ability to multitask
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and expert skills in Microsoft Office programs, including Microsoft Excel
