This exciting position will be responsible for managing construction projects throughout the District. This position will allow the successful candidate to develop standardized design and construction management practices for the implementation of capital improvement projects. The Construction Project Manager (Project Manager) will be responsible for managing projects identified in the Capital Improvement Plan for Flood Control and Water Conservation Structures from the bid development phase through construction close out. You'll have the chance to work with a wide range of teams in this rewarding position, each of which plays a vital role in our efforts to preserve our most valuable natural resources. Candidate should be a team player and have extensive knowledge and advanced skills in communication, facilitation, negotiation, risk management, developing project estimates/budgets, health & safety, problem solving, contract management, and site inspections. Starting Compensation:Project Manager 1 $50,460.80 - $68,273.25 Project Manager 2 $54,496.00 - $73,711.53 Project Manager 3 $57,678.40 - $79,000.00 The starting salary ranges are included for the Project Manager profile which reflects minimum to approximately 48.9% of the respective pay grades. The starting salary will be based on the education and experience of the successful candidate. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award applicable pay increases based on positive employee performance. Essential Functions
  • Oversees consultants and contractors on project construction of flood control and conservation structure components to entire facilities.
  • Resolves project issues in accordance with established contracts, policies and procedures.
  • Development of standards, procedures, project requirements and review/approval of project design and construction.
  • Initiates contact and maintains professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Working Conditions Work is primarily performed in a standard office setting. Ability to perform continuous repetitive tasks (to include keyboarding and driving) with one or both hands and feet is required. Considerable time is spent outside the office meeting with legislators, board members, government officials, scientists, engineers, other agencies' staff, and the general public. Some time is also spent in the field, often at remote, undeveloped sites and/or on or around open water. May be exposed to extremes in elements, temperature, and humidity and to a variety of pests, including mosquitoes and ticks. Must be able to operate a District vehicle for 2 or more hours at a time. Employee may be subject to call-in outside of regularly scheduled work hours, or required to be on call, including on nights, weekends or holidays, to respond to emergency management activities or other incidents requiring rapid response in support of District operations. Preferred Credentials for Construction Project Manager Opportunities
  • Experience with construction of water control structures
  • OSHA training, American Concrete Institute (ACI), Project Management Professional (PMP), and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
  • Master's degree in construction management; civil, environmental, or water resources engineering; or Business Administration
