Job Summary

This Construction Project Superintendent position will coordinate and supervise industrial construction projects. Projects include greenfield, retrofit and addon manufacturing facilities throughout North America. Construction Project Superintendent oversees outside contractors and ensures projects are completed on time and within budget.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, operations team(s) & equipment manufacturers
  • Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously (Usually one project in construction phase and then planning upcoming projects)
  • Select contractors and delegate work
  • Obtain permits and licenses
  • Negotiate contracts with external vendors
  • Problem-solve to address delays, emergencies or other issues
  • Comply with all safety and building codes as well as legal requirements
  • Complete Progress Reporting
  • Explain contract and technical matters in a clear manner
  • Assist with preparing budgets & cost estimates
  • Create schedules and timelines to ensure the project is delivered on time
  • Ensure safety procedures are adhered to by all contractors, trades and employees

Job Requirements

  • BS/BA in Engineering, Building Science or relevant field or 10+ years of equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years experience as heavy industrial construction project superintendent or related field
  • Plant or Operations experience a plus
  • In-depth understanding of heavy industrial construction procedures, materials, and project superintendent principles
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to delegate work
  • Exceptional time management skills, ability to estimate work effort & time needed for various construction jobs
  • Outstanding communication, organization and negotiation skills
  • Good writing skills for proposals and reports
  • Excellent technical skills and understanding of construction methods, permitting requirement, contracts, and blueprints
  • Up to 70% travel throughout North America
