Construction ManagerProvide construction quality manager services to ensure that the project meets the design and quality standards as outlined in the construction documents. This position is located at the Hanley Federal Building in Syracuse, NY. The CM will act as the on-site representative for the Government and will report information regarding the construction directly to GSA.Responsibilities include:1. Documentation of existing conditions of the site to develop an existing conditions report.2. Review the project drawings and specifications and ensure that the general contractor conforms to all Quality Control elements.3. Coordinate and lead weekly job site meetings with the GSA.4. The function of the job is to ensure the contractor implements an effective QC program and uses the provisions daily to control the quality of the work.5. Conduct comprehensive site inspections of all construction work on a daily basis to ensure quality of materials, proper installation of construction systems, and adherence to the construction documents.6. Review all submittals, track the submittal and RFI review and approval process. Review the General Contractor's schedule. Prepare a cost estimate(s) as needed.7. Keep an updated set of marked-up drawings on site.8. Review contractor payment invoices.9. Keep a detailed log of change order submissions.10. Provide the GSA team with recommendations as needed.11. Assist with coordination of construction work and schedule.12. Create and administer project close-out punch list.13. Assist GSA in tracking and coordinating project employee clearances.14. Must be on site at all times during construction.Job RequirementsMinimum QualificationsExperience: Minimum of 5 years construction management experience with a CCM certification or 10 years experience with a four year engineering or architectural degree and has successful completed a construction project of similar scope and complexity: $1M office renovation. GSA experience preferred. Education: NAPreferred Certifications: OSHA 10 Hour CertificateSkills: Verbal and written communication. Must be capable of using scheduling/Critical Path Method software. Additional:
  • Physical ability to climb ladders and navigate construction sites unaided.
  • Federal experience preferred, particularly with GSA.
  • Ability to work within a team .
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Understand and develop construction schedules.
  • Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Project.
  • Understand and develop detailed Scopes of Work for design and construction projects.
Physical and Environmental Demands
  • Constantly communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Constantly assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Occasionally ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like.
  • Occasionally moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
  • Occasionally remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Occasionally moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Occasionally adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
  • Occasional low and high temperatures due to working outside during all seasons, along with elements such as precipitation and wind.
  • Occasional noise while on construction sites.
