Job Summary: The CST (Construction Safety Technician) is responsible for ensuring the safety of construction workers and the construction site including the investigation and prevention of accidents, risk management, loss control, vision conservation, driving safety, emergency preparedness, identification analysis and correction of safety hazards and/or safety code deficiencies. The CST will conduct, plan, direct and audit OSHA and construction compliance programs; provide training and technical assistance to promote safe work environments. Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections of construction sites to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Training: Assist in organizing and conducting safety training sessions for construction personnel, covering topics such as hazard recognition, fall protection, PPE usage, and emergency procedures.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incident reports, and safety-related documentation.
  • Compliance: Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards on construction sites.
  • Incident Response: Respond promptly to safety incidents and accidents on construction sites, conduct investigations, document findings, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Communication: Communicate safety policies, procedures, and best practices to construction personnel, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, promoting a culture of safety awareness and accountability.
  • Equipment: Ensure that appropriate safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) are available and properly used on construction sites.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans and procedures for construction sites, including evacuation plans, first aid protocols, and communication protocols.
  • Improvement Initiatives: Collaborate with project teams to identify opportunities for improving safety performance and implementing proactive safety measures.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about changes to safety regulations and standards in the construction industry, ensuring that company policies and practices remain up-to-date and compliant.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices in the construction industry (e.g., OSHA regulations).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate safety concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify hazards and implement effective safety solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to multiple construction sites as needed.
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of safety excellence and continuous improvement.
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in occupational health and safety preferred.
  • Previous experience (3+ years) working in a construction safety role or related field.
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety training preferred.
Travel:
  • 70%
