Join us and be part of a team that values its people!Job Summary:The Site Safety Inspector serves as a key safety partner on construction sites, ensuring compliance with safety standards and promoting a culture of safety among workers. This role involves actively engaging with construction teams to support safe work practices, conducting safety training sessions, and participating in pre-construction planning meetings with contractors. The Inspector is responsible for reviewing the site and ongoing work to identify areas for improvement, addressing potential hazards, and facilitating a safe working environment. This position requires a proactive approach to safety and collaboration with all stakeholders to uphold and enhance site safety protocols.Responsibilities:
  • Prepare Weekly Site Safety Reports that comprehensively evaluate the following key safety areas:
    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Ensure proper usage and compliance.
    • Housekeeping: Assess cleanliness and organization of the site.
    • Ladders, Hoists, Lifts, and Scaffolding: Inspect for proper setup and safe usage.
    • Electrical Safety: Identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to protocols.
    • Fall Protection: Evaluate systems and procedures to prevent falls.
    • Excavation/Trenching: Monitor for compliance with safety standards.
    • Fire Protection/Prevention: Ensure adequate measures and equipment are in place.
    • Tools and Equipment: Check for safe operation and maintenance.
    • Occupied and Confined Spaces: Assess compliance with safety requirements.
    • Safety Orientation and Hazard Communication: Verify proper onboarding and communication of hazards.
  • Document exemplary safety performance and recognize individuals or teams for achievements.
  • Identify and address any safety issues or close-calls, providing a summary of steps taken to mitigate risks.
  • Review and ensure completion of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) performed on-site.
  • Collaborate with site personnel to implement corrective actions and promote continuous improvement in safety practices.
Requirements and Experience:
  • Completion of drug and alcohol reasonable suspicion training.
  • Certified in CPR & First Aid.
  • Trained in the use of an AED defibrillator (an AED must be present on-site).
Additional Qualifications (must meet one of the following):
  • OSHA 510 Certification for construction completed within the last 24 months, along with 3 years of relevant safety and health experience in the field.
  • A designation from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) such as CHST, ASP, or CSP, with at least 3 years of relevant safety experience.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Safety Management from an accredited program, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant safety experience.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Prolonged periods of standing and walking often on rough terrain.
    • Ability to climb a ladder.
    • Ability to stoop, crawl and bend
    • Ability to lift up to 30lbs
    Other Requirements:
    • Background check and potential drug screening required for the position
    • Overtime and flexible working hours may be necessary based on project demands
    • Residence within a reasonable commuting distance (this position does not pay relocation, travel or per diem)
