Tasks/Duties
- Perform all concrete type work: foundations, spillways, retaining walls, rip rap dams, walls, sidewalks, inlets and outfalls, and assist in all concrete maintenance duties.
- Block and brick laying, carpentry work and making forms.
- Removal of sod, digging and setting forms; mixing, pouring and finishing concrete, installation of drainage pipes and maintenance of City retention ponds, including mowing.
- Drive dump truck (Under 26,000 lbs.) and operate light/heavy equipment including but not limited to: concrete mixer, concrete saws, compressors, generators, pumps, mowers; and able to use small hand tools and concrete finishing tools.
- Assist Streets and Sanitation in spring clean-up, roadway repairs, and emergency situations.
- Able to work from a boat and assist in the operation and maintenance of stormwater pumps and aquatic weed control.
- Must be available for emergency callouts and on call duty.
- Perform additional duties, as assigned.
- To communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and follow oral & written instructions.
- Complete required trainings as specified within the City's Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.
- In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential and may be required to perform duties outside of their normal job description.
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Six (6) months experience finishing concrete, block and brick-work, or one (1) year experience in a construction trade.
- Valid Driver License. Must obtain Florida driver license within thirty (30) days of employment.
PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in the installation of storm drainage pipes.
- General carpentry skills.
- Class C Stormwater license.
- Valid State of Florida Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) with air brake endorsement.
- Qualified Stormwater Management Inspector (Erosion and Sediment Control).
