This position is intended to mainly support projects within a 2-hour radius of the Raleigh office. RequirementsAs a Construction Specialist / Construction Field Representative, you will oversee and observe the construction phase of a project and document the contractor's adherence to the construction contract. Projects include civil / site projects, water line, sewer line, treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, and asset inventory and assessment.
- Responsible for properly documenting daily construction activities during each site visit and making sure that each observation report is accurate, complete, and properly filed for each project.
- Communicates with Construction Administrator, contractors and clients to keep each advised of the progress of construction.
- Observes significant, multiple, and simultaneous construction projects.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of construction contract documents, including front end documents, general conditions including modified and supplemental versions, and technical specifications.
- Becomes thoroughly familiar with the technical plans and specifications for each construction project assigned and understands deviations from construction documents.
- Addresses inquiries and complaints from residents or other parties affected by construction activities.
- Assists in quality control procedures including documentation, correspondence, and proper project close-out pursuant to established procedures.
- Assists in post construction services pursuant to established procedures and construction contract documents.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 2 years of related experience or a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in commonly used computer software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe).
- Must be able to accurately read and comprehend construction plans; keep accurate and complete records documenting daily construction activities; have strong time management and organizational skills; be able to observe significant, multiple, and simultaneous construction projects; have strong mathematical aptitude and be able to verify and check contract quantities / costs as related to contractor pay applications; be able to scale and measure distances accurately.
- Knowledge of construction contract documents, including front end documents, general conditions, and technical specifications highly preferred.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with all parties associated with construction activities.
- Valid driver's license.
