We are currently searching for an experienced Construction Superintendent/Chief Inspector to support ourEast Texas CEI Operations located Nacogdoches, Lufkin, Tyler, or Longview, TX. What you'll be doing:
  • Support the construction engineering and inspection program primarily for TXDOT transportation projects
  • Responsible for performing complex technical field assignments, inspecting construction work and coordinating material tests in accordance with project plans, contract documents, and specifications
  • Coordinating and managing project inspection staff
  • Frequent visits to construction work sites to perform inspections and support inspection staff. Support, mentor and train less experienced inspection staff
  • Prepare master Daily Work Report, reviews, checks calculations, and authorize Inspectors DWR's
  • Review and resolve quantity disputes with the contractor, verify contractor payments are made in a timely manner, and prepare monthly contractor pay estimates
  • Attend and participate in project progress meetings
  • Develop and maintain an excellent professional relationship with those organizations to facilitate both the successful completion of current ongoing projects and the successful pursuit of follow-on assignments
  • Review programs for conformance with Client standards
  • Identify and aid in the pursuit of future opportunities
  • Assist Project Manager with preparing proposals and estimates for new projects
What you need to have:
  • Experience in Bridge and Highway construction projects with demonstrated knowledge of contractor means and methods, previous TXDOT experience preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in construction management and inspection
  • Familiarity with TXDOT Specifications, Policies, and Procedures
  • Working knowledge of AASHTO SiteManager
  • Extensive knowledge of contract requirements and project records requirements
  • Exercise initiative and independent judgement in project issue resolution
  • Be able to communicate effectively- verbal and written
  • Be able to multi-task in a team environment
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Demonstrated experience in QA/QC development and project implementation
  • Knowledge and understanding of project controls, including CPM scheduling, cost estimating, contract administration, and change order and claims analysis
  • Demonstrated skills in coordinating, and directing work of subconsultants, and in developing strong working relationships with general contractor personnel, subcontractors, inspectors, and other related parties
