Overview:

This position is geared toward accomplishing construction or related type projects at the USU Blanding Campus including work on the student-built house.

The worker successfully hired for this position will work 40 hours per week (Less than 12 weeks) or (not to exceed 1560 hours per year so it maintains the part time status) as a temporary position at USU Blanding.

The successful individual for this position will become a temporary member of the USU Blanding Campus. The individual for this position will need skills that pertain to the safe operations of the USU Blanding Campus Construction projects within Professional Career and Technical Education. The individual must be able to change duties several times in a day. The individual needs to be safety minded and able to follow instructions with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities:

The duties will include construction related to residential housing, framing, interior and exterior finish, concrete, project layout and overall well rounded construction skills will be needed. The duties may include heavy lifting and much manual/physical labor.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Construction experience
  • Valid drivers license to perform essential job responsibilities, such as driving university vehicles and transporting materials.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dependable, responsible contributor committed to excellence and success
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions or work assignments
  • A good safety attitude and able to follow instructions with minimal supervision
  • Pursuing of Associate of Applied Science General Technology- Construction Emphasis or Certification
  • Enrollment in the Industry Experience Course
  • Working on a construction internship at USU Blanding
  • Working on Construction Certificate of Completion
  • Skid loader, forklift, aerial boom lift or hydraulic excavator certification

    Advertised Salary: $12-$15 per hour; Depending on experience and qualifications ADA:

    This position requires considerable physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including heavy lifting (up to 75 lbs.) and/or pushing and pulling of heavy objects. Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions, such as crawling, kneeling, and squatting. Employees work outside and will not be protected from weather conditions, including extreme cold and extreme heat for extended periods.

    Employees are exposed to hazardous conditions including, noise, vibrations from machinery, moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to chemicals, elevated work spaces, such as scaffolding, and atmospheric conditions that can affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation.
