Responsibilities
- Supports a defined cluster of business managers and their teams.
- Set-up profile, skills mapping, and ALTEN resume for each consultant.
- Provide updated and relevant guidance to business managers in consultant matters.
- Support business managers with planning, coordination, facilitating, and subsequent documentation of performance/career reviews, employee surveys, and salary adjustments.
- Onboarding responsibilities - work closely with business managers, time & expense team, and ALTEN HR to ensure a seamless onboarding experience for all new consultants. This includes providing relevant welcome and onboarding information.
- Function as an extra, dedicated point-of-contact for consultants in addition to their business manager.
- Partner with the business, give support, and be the responsible point-of-contact for topics related to talent development (training), work environment, and other needs.
- Act as the first point-of-contact for employees to provide functional support to resolve administrative cases/queries.
- Travel to customer sites to conduct face-to-face visits with assigned consultants. This is conducted with the business manager also in attendance. Number of trips is 2 - 4 per quarter and each trip averages to 2 - 3 nights away from home.
Skills and qualification required
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or comparable field
- 2+ years of experience in a Human Resources role
- The ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Being able to multi-task is a must-have skill.
- The ability to continually interact and establish professional relationships with consultants who are engineering-degreed and highly competent at their jobs.
- The understanding that we work in a changing environment and having the ability to readily adapt to change.
- Someone who is personable, engaging, and who can be seen by their group of consultants as their advocate.
- The good discussions are easy and enjoyable, but this individual also needs to have experience in the difficult” discussions, such as, performance improvement, missed deadlines, and terminations.
- Strong oral and written skills - with many assigned consultants, documenting discussions is key as business managers and others at ALTEN will make inquiries of you in order to continually grow the client relationship and address concerns that you will uncover.
- The ability to travel as outlined above in the position duties.
- Someone who has worked with consultants previously and understands the consultant lifestyle.
- Someone who is versed in standard HR principles.
- Someone who is pro-active, engaging, and has the openness to learn.
- Someone who interacts with individuals and groups well.
- Someone who is willing to share ideas, provide feedback, and wants to assist in growing a department.
- This individual does not need to have an engineering background as this position is more focused on providing HR and administrative support.
