Visit www.masterbrand.com to learn more and join us in building great experiences together!Job DescriptionJOB DESCRIPTIONAs the Continuous Improvement Specialist, you will be responsible for leading and participation in all Kaizen Event within the Kinston Facility. The selected CI Specialist will conduct Kaizen training for events, participate in events and provide follow-up support for past events on down weeks.Our CI Specialist consists of 3 main elements:
  • Classroom instruction on the MasterBrand Way
  • Hands-On Training on the MasterBrand Way
  • On-the-job Training on the MasterBrand Way
  • Execution of projects on the shop floor
Please note: This is an entry-level, full-time hourly role. You will be eligible for full-time benefits and PTO.RESPONSIBILITIEs:
  • Coordinate training requirements with Production, HR, and Safety Departments
  • Teach and train in the MasterBrand Way as relates to Standard Work, 6S, 8 Wastes and Value Stream Mapping
  • Track and manage post-Kaizen newspaper for previous events
  • Ensure Kaizen teams follow established procedures as prescribed by the MasterBrand Way
  • Serve as a liaison between MTO Lean Leader and the Kinston facility
  • Coordinate training and events with department Supervisors and Managers
  • Maintain training materials and handouts
  • Monitor the training process to evaluate effectiveness; be dedicated to continuous improvement
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of employees, including new hires and leadership team
  • Communicate progress to departmental Supervisors, Managers, General Managers, and HR Manager
  • Must be familiar with all areas/positions in the plant
  • Any other duties may be assigned
SHIFT:
  • Core Shift hours are 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday through Thursday + mandatory overtime as needed
  • Scheduled weekend work may be required in order to complete projects
QualificationsTo be successful in this role - you are a go getter that does not mind standing in front of a group to present. You are focused on solving problems and are analytically focused. In general, you have interest in manufacturing and learning and practicing lean manufacturing tools. Ideally, you have some manufacturing experience. Additional preferred qualifications:
  • Software knowledge: Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), databases, etc.
  • Must be able to work various schedules to ensure training reaches all shifts (modified, 2nd, or split shifts - example: 4:00 pm to 12:30 am)
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills
  • Prior experience training or teaching preferred
  • Must be able to read, understand and create standard operating procedures
  • Must understand and follow all safety rules and regulations
  • Must be able to consistently work as scheduled and have excellent time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and function in a team-oriented, fast-paced, matrix environment.
  • Strong communication skills - listening, verbal, written, and presentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical reasoning skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage a diverse group of individuals and discern when to escalate employee issues
  • Some college preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is minimally required
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Ability to speak and write in Spanish a plus.
  • Self-directed and self-starter
  • Must be able to work without direct supervision
