Here at Kuehne+Nagel, our West Jefferson, Madison is looking for a new Contract Logistics Operations Manager to join ourContract Logistics team.YOUR ROLEThe Operations Manager is responsible for directing the daily activities of the Manufacturing operations, including labor scheduling, supervision and the proper utilization of space, equipment and manpower. Key responsibilities include: Staffing, warehouse operations, implementation of safety, security, housekeeping and sanitation programs and customer service.YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assistin the development and direct programs to ensure the efficient andcost-effective manufacturing operations and utilization of the facility.
  • Executing the schedule of all manufacturingoperations including production planning, procurement, shipping, handlingreturned/damaged goods, maintenance, and administrative activities to ensurecustomer requirements are met in an efficient manner.
  • Plan long range labor needs based on customerforecasts and input from management.
  • Make recommendations to DCM on programs,processes and technology to provide continuous improvement and deliver yearover year cost reductions for the customer.
  • Interact with Facility Management Team toestablish goals.
  • Develop a continuous improvement plan to meetprescribed cost and services standards.
  • Monitor the production areas and actual to planvolumes to ensure it continues to meet requirements.
  • Direct the focus of the manufacturingsupervisory personnel to achieve prescribed objectives.
  • Develop procedures to ensure the efficientoperation and utilization of the manufacturing operations.
  • Develop, implement and direct programs toensure the safety of all personnel, equipment and property.
  • Create and manage housekeeping program in allmanufacturing areas.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of materialto each production line.
  • Assure that customer orders are completedtimely and within prescribed cost levels.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation ofreports regarding manufacturing operations.
  • Work with Production Department Managers todevelop smooth flow of goods into and out of the manufacturing areas.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
  • Five years of managementexperience in a warehousing.
  • Bachelor degree in business discipline ormanufacturing preferred.
  • Strong customer orientation and problem solvingskills.
  • Proven proficiency in a production environment.
  • Successful track record in leadership andsupervising the work of subordinates.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and ContinuousProcess Improvement
  • Computer skills - Proficient in Microsoft Word,Outlook, Excel (advanced), etc. (SAP is a plus)
  • Prioritization and planning skills
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Must be team oriented
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in afast-paced environment
