The UCI School of Biological Sciences Contract and Grants office is one of the units housed in the Office of the Dean that has a centralized Pre-awards and Post awards unit. As a central unit, staff serve the School as a whole by working with a variety of federal and non-federal sponsors. The team's mission is to serve the School's faculty by streamlining services and improving operations, supporting each other on complex and challenging tasks, and fostering professional growth by attending training, conferences and presenting on extramural research topics both on and off campus as subject experts.
Under the general supervision of the Post Award supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for the financial and administrative management of major federal and private contracts and grants as well as other extramural funds, private gifts/grants, opportunity funds, Chancellors funds, training grants and set-up funds that support various research and instructional programs within the Contracts and Grants unit in the School of Biological Sciences Deans Office. Incumbent has independent decision-making authority, policy analysis and interpretation and independent problem-solving responsibilities that requires on-going interaction with all levels of university agency faculty and staff. The incumbent is responsible for the accounts, including fiscal solvency, financial compliance, monthly PI reporting projections, monthly reconciliation, review and analysis of expenditures and financial report to sponsoring agencies.
