Job Description :
We are seeking an IT Controls Engineer to join our team at an Optical Fiber manufacturing plant. This individual will be responsible for managing and improving the IT-related software systems that support various manufacturing process steps. The IT Controls Engineer will collaborate with both engineering and operations teams to implement process improvements, become the expert for process control systems, and ensure seamless integration with manufacturing execution and reporting systems.
As a key player in the plant's operations, the IT Controls Engineer will lead projects, troubleshoot systems, and ensure that the plant's automated systems and software applications meet operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Ownership & Improvement: Own IT-related software for manufacturing processes, working closely with engineering and operations teams to drive continuous improvements.
- Expert for Process Control Systems: Be the go-to expert for process control systems, ensuring their seamless integration with manufacturing execution and reporting systems.
- Software Development: Develop or modify software systems that support manufacturing, including web-based or stand-alone applications.
- Project Management: Lead projects, ensuring they meet objectives within budget and timeline constraints.
- Production Support & Troubleshooting: Assist a team of engineers in providing production support, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring reliable equipment operation through automated control systems and user interfaces.
- Optimization & Innovation: Support process and product optimization efforts, and develop plans for innovative solutions to technical problems, seeing them through to implementation.
- Training: Provide training to engineers and production associates on new processes, equipment, or control systems.
- Capital Projects: Lead or participate in capital projects to enhance plant operations.
- Off-Hours Support: Be part of the off-hours production support team, rotating approximately every 5-6 weeks.
Required Skills
- Programming: Proficient in C/C++/C#, Visual Basic 6, VB.Net, iFIX/SCADA, or other industrial automation systems, and PowerShell scripting.
- Manufacturing Integration: Experience in integrating computers into manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Troubleshooting: Ability to troubleshoot low voltage electrical circuits.
- Database Management: Knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server), MSMQ, and XML.
- On-Call Availability: Willingness to be on-call during off hours on a rotational basis.
Desired Skills
- Windows PC Imaging: Create and update reusable Windows 10/11 images for industrial control systems, ensuring multi-language support and cyber security optimization for 24/7 manufacturing.
- OSI PI Data Historian & PI Vision: Administration and support experience with OSI PI, PI Asset Framework, and PI Vision.
Soft Skills
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with a team that supports all IT control systems in the plant and related IT supporting systems.
- Cross-Departmental Communication: Strong communication skills to collaborate with engineering and operations teams to achieve plant goals.
- MES Knowledge: Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), particularly Camstar or similar systems.

Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
Experience Requirements
- 5-10 years of experience in IT controls, process automation, or related fields.
