Job Description:

Job Summary: A leading energy company is seeking a Control Room Operator to monitor upstream assets and ensure safety and performance across various operations. The role will support production activities, monitor equipment conditions, and coordinate logistical activities. The operator will be central to field operations, troubleshooting issues and optimizing well performance, while ensuring compliance with safety protocols. The position requires flexibility to adapt to changing operational needs and manage priority tasks.

Job Title: Control Room Operator

Industry: Oil & Gas / Upstream / Unconventional / Drilling

Office Location: Midland, TX

Worksite: On-site / In-office (No opportunity for remote/hybrid work)

Work Schedule: Rotating 7/7 schedule (Thursday to Wednesday), with a mix of day and night shifts. Night shifts occur approximately once every month and a half.

Work Hours: 12-hour shifts

Work Type: Renewable 6-month W2 Contract

Per Diem: Not offered - travel/accommodations WILL NOT be paid for or reimbursed if you live outside the Midland area

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the central point of contact for field operations.
  • Act as a liaison during emergency or abnormal conditions, including activation of the Incident Command system.
  • Monitor onshore assets, including production facilities and wells, using surveillance tools such as Cygnet and Foresite.
  • Perform root cause analysis to troubleshoot issues and optimize well performance.
  • Monitor alarms and participate in alarm management and rationalization.
  • Adhere to the Pump by Priority program, which may involve remotely controlling operations from the Control Room.
  • Dispatch field personnel (Lease Operators) and third-party trucking companies to address issues or coordinate logistics.
  • Input and track maintenance work orders and follow up to ensure resolution.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders and generate reports using tools like Microsoft Teams, Excel, SharePoint, and Power BI.
  • Monitor field cameras for security and operational safety.
  • Participate in SCADA reviews and ongoing alarm rationalization.

Desired Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of production processing equipment.
  • Experience with well optimization and downhole equipment.
  • Understanding of artificial lift systems and automated control.
  • Proficiency with SCADA systems (Cygnet) and well surveillance programs (LOWIS, XSPOC, Foresite).
  • Experience with oilfield logistics and compression systems.
  • Familiarity with enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques (e.g., waterflood, CO2 injection).

Minimum Skills:

  • Basic understanding of production equipment and artificial lift systems.
  • Ability to navigate SCADA systems (Cygnet).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of water recycle and disposal processes.

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of industry experience in roles such as Lease Operator, Automation Technician, Production Technician, or Control Room Operator.
  • Preferred: 5-10 years of experience in similar roles.
