One of our best clients is an innovative, leading OEM of industrial robotic and automated material handling machinery who is hiring for an Automation Controls Systems Engineer to join their team! The Controls System Engineer will assist in the design, development, documentation, implementation, and commissioning of automated material handling systems.
The Controls System Engineer will be responsible for:
- Programming PLC (programmable logic control), DCS (distributed control systems) and HMI (human machine interface) systems
- Designing and implementing custom controls for material handling machine interfacing
- Working with all types of engineers and customers to enhance services
- Developing lower-level Controls Engineers
- Managing time efficiently with multiple projects going on simultaneously
- Generating any detailed reports as required
- Adhering to industry standard safety practices
- Commissioning final systems at manufacturing facilities.
- Designing, developing, documenting, implementing, and commissioning of industrial automation control systems.
- Researching new potential products to integrate with our systems
- Any other assigned duties
The Controls System Engineer will excel with:
- Bachelors (or higher) degree in Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
- 4-10 Years of experience as a Controls Engineer or related position
- Prior experience with PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS and MES technologies
- Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, and Fanuc experience is a plus; (structured text required to max compensation)
- A understanding of manufacturing / warehousing equipment / automation technology & processes
- Prior project engineering experience ideal
- Possess in-depth knowledge of programming concepts
- Thorough knowledge of business application software (MS Office package)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Displays a positive and professional demeanor
- Demonstrates a flexible and cooperative working style
- Willing to work off-hours when required
- Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record
- Willing to submit to drug testing and/or background checks as mandated for a) employment, and b) customer contract requirements
