In this exciting role, the Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, installing, and managing control systems used to monitor and control key process equipment. The candidate will also specify, design, and complete projects as well as initiate and support the operation of instrumentation for product development and production processes. The ideal candidate will exhibit the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, continuous improvement environment focused on safety, quality, and equipment reliability.This position will work cross-functionally with a diverse team of controls engineers, systems engineers, mechanical engineers, field service engineers, and product marketing managers. There will be frequent communication with suppliers, contract manufacturers and members of the supply chain. This position encompasses the design, development, validation, deployment, and support of solid precursor delivery systems and liquid precursor deliver systems for the semiconductor industry.What You'll Do:Become and automation subject-matter-expert (SME) for scale-up and release of new chemical-delivery systems to high-volume semiconductor manufacturingCreate PLC and HMI code based on end-user requirements as defined in IO sheets, sequence charts, alarms/interlock charts, P&IDs, and control panel electrical schematicsSupport mechanical, field service, and systems engineers in use and troubleshooting of controller equipment, including sensors, transmitters, remote IO, analog scales, temperature controllers, overlimit controllers, and other microcontrollersIdentify and execute CIP opportunities to improve process automation hardware and software for solid and liquid delivery systemsSupervise operators and maintenance workers in testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment to obtain optimum operating performanceTroubleshoot NPD control panel hardware, IO, and electrical equipment, executing the necessary adjustments to bring equipment up to running statusMake programming changes online for retrofitting or upgrading equipmentCoordinate project timelines with NPD managementQuote components and order parts directly with outside vendorsWork safely and drive process improvementsListen actively and solve problems in a structured mannerManage change through cross-functional partnering in a global environmentUp to 20% travel, both domestically and internationally, is required to effectively fulfill the position responsibilitiesWhat We Seek:A post-secondary degree, trade school diploma, or apprenticeship program, specializing in Programming and Engineering or equivalent experiencePreferred platforms and standards:Omron Sysmac Studio, CX-Programmer, CX-DesignerBeckhoff TwinCATMitsubishi GXWorks2 and GXWorks3Ignition SCADAEthernet/IP, Modbus, RS-232 RS-485, EtherCAT communication protocols2-5+ years' experience in PLC/HMI control systems design and implementation2-5+ years of experience in a hands-on automation/control environment2-5+ years of experience programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Human/Machine Interfaces (HMIs) using Allen Bradley softwareUnderstanding of electrical controllers (PLC/PAC), including how to read/write/edit logic using IEC 61131-3 languages (Ladder, FBD, Structured Text, SFC) with a command of program scan time, timers, interlocks, latches, control loops and conditional statements affecting electrical inputs/outputs.Experience with industrial communication networks (Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, Modbus, Serial)Ability to troubleshoot electrical panels and interpret electrical & pneumatic schematicsAbility to use multimeter and other test equipment to troubleshoot PLC and automation problems including electronic troubleshooting at component levelFamiliarity with equipment design codes including NEC & NFPA 79 & international electrical standardsExperience selecting appropriate circuit protectors, wire and cable, sensors, safety hardware, PLC hardware, remote I/O, VFD and servo systemsDemonstrated experience in sensor selection / integration and operationCapable of setting up remote I/O, Ethernet, & EtherCAT networks as well as other electronic controls equipmentAptitude to read drawings, reference manuals & instruction guidesAt a minimum, an intermediate understanding of industrial ethernet networking in the operational technology (OT) spaceAccessible by laptop computer and cell phone for occasional work during off hoursEffective verbal and written communication skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills Proven history of analyzing data and solving problems independentlyForward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideasDisplayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams Experience within a global, multicultural, multi-location organization serving the semiconductor industryCapable of managing cross-functional projectsAbility to travel up to 20%, domestic & internationalWhat We Offer:At Entegris, we invest in providing opportunity to our employees and promote from within.
