Intex Recreation Corp. (IRC) is the exclusive sales associate and distributor of INTEX branded products in the United States and Canada. IRC warehouses and distributes Air Mattresses, Above Ground Pools, Inflatable Pool Floats, Pool Accessories, Inflatable Boats and Kayaks to multiple classes ofretail. IRCs customer base numbers in the thousands. A fully staffed Consumer Service Call Center with agents in Long Beach, the Philippines and China handles consumer direct sales. Annual sales volume is significant, as well as seasonal in nature, necessitating extensive forecasting, tight controls, and detailed execution.
The Real Estate Division manages approximately 3 million square feet of industrial space owned by the Company in 11 buildings in Southern California and manages the entitlement and development of several large land projects owned by the Company in So Cal and Reno, Nevada.
Were searching for an experienced Controller to join our team of high-performing professionals as a key contributor to the management of the two lines of business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following.
- Act as a strategic business partner to President and the leadership team.
- Assess and evaluate the financial performance of the organizations regarding long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts.
- Evaluate departments and make suggestions for automating processes and increasing working efficiency.
- Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the companys plan for growth, expansion, and property development.
- Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; manage preparation and support of all external audits.
- Recruit, interview and hire finance, accounting and payroll staff as required.
- Participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to forecasting and budgeting.
- Prepare and present monthly financial budgeting reports including monthly profit and loss by company, forecast vs. budget by company and monthly cash flow for the holding company.
- Identify, develop, and execute analysis of real estate development projects, property maintenance projects, and tenant activities.
- Review and follow up of critical follow-up dates in legal agreements.
- Evaluation and monitoring of water rights agreements.
- Preparing financial analyses of prospective tenant leases, financial and credit review of prospective tenants, reviewing new lease and lease extension documents.
- Develop cash flow models and profitability forecasts for proposed real estate development projects.
- Manage financial planning and supervise creation of reports, software implementation and tools for internal controls, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Supervise the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases, and financial software. Supervise regular maintenance and backup of all accounting systems and supervise company financial staff.
- Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls.
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data for lenders, ownership, and companys board of directors.
- Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state, and federal tax returns.
- Work with Human Resources to ensure appropriate legal compliance.
- Oversee the month-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating inefficiencies.
- Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability. Manage lines of credit and other credit facilities to fund operations, investments, and real estate projects.
- Remain current on state, federal and local laws regarding company operations.
- Mentor a team of 8 managing work allocation, systems training, performance evaluations, and the building of an effective and efficient team dynamic.
- Oversee monthly cash management and AP Department, approve large payables, sign checks, authorize large wires and ACHs.
- Supervise Accounts Receivable management and provide guidance relating to the collection process, customer credit line decisions, and evaluation of new tenant credit worthiness.
Position Requirements
- Bachelors degree in accounting or finance.
- 4 years minimum experience as a Controller.
- Experience in a real estate related environment.
- CPA preferred but not required.
- Background in Big 4 Public Accounting would be a plus.
- Outstanding knowledge and understanding of GAAP with experience in federal and state tax planning.
- Background coordinating with I.T. staff to manage and/or upgrade accounting system.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence ability to motivate staff.
- Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Significant experience working with external auditors, internal controls, and compliance-related issues.
