ENL Finance & Business AnlysExemptCompensation range:$47.71 - $77.47Your rate of pay will be based on applicable experienceShift: Days Shift length: 8 HoursDays off: Fixed If fixed, days off: Saturday & SundayHours per pay period: 80POSITION SUMMARY:The Controller works under the direction of the Director of Finance. The Controller will provide leadership and guidance for general accounting, accounts payable, tax preparation, and financial reporting. They lead the activities of the Finance and Accounting Department, prioritizing and directing workflow as needed. Oversees the capital asset management process and works with the Capital Asset Analyst to develop and prepare capital asset reports. They ensure all federal and state reporting and regulatory reports are completed and filed as required including Medicare and Medi-Cal Cost Reports, OHSPD quarterly and annual reporting and other federal state and other regulatory reporting. They ensure the timely and accurate close of the organization's financial records each month and at year-end and directs departmental activity necessary for a smooth and accurate audit. Performs other duties as assigned. They analyze and interpret financial results and identification operational improvements as well as communicates financial concepts, results and opportunities to diverse audiences. The Controller consistently demonstrates the core values of Enloe Health and serves as a role model to other employees.Significant components of this position include:Analysis and interpretation of financial results and identification of opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost savings.Supports the Finance Manager in the development of annual operational and capital budgets.Provides guidance to the leadership team to ensure accounting policies, processes and reports are consistent with GAAP, FASB and the goals of Enloe Medical Center.Provides guidance as needed to the leadership team to ensure the annual financial audits, pension audits and 990 tax returns are correct and timely.Communicates financial concepts and results, and opportunities to diverse audiences.Identifies and assists with implementing process improvements within Finance and Accounting.Provides leadership on reimbursement issues including interpretation and implementation of new regulations.Partnership with clinical colleagues on usage and cost management and developing strategies and support to maximize all cost report and government appeals.Strong project management and process thinking to instill an environment of accountability and quality improvement.Mentors and coaches staff and organizational leadership to increase financial acumen across the organization.Responsible for bond covenant monitoring and annual disclosure. Assists with rating agency reporting and relationships.Provides depth of understanding of GAAP and FASB to ensure accurate financial reporting.Understanding of accurate reporting for self-insured liabilities including Pension, Malpractice and Workers Compensation.Supports physician alignment strategy to include analytical and operational support of physician reimbursement and expense management.EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:Minimum:Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting or finance with a minimum of five years of progressive professional experience in the areas of accounting, audit, tax or financial management in a healthcare environment.Two years management or supervisory experience.Progressive work experience as a controller, assistant controller, financial analyst, accountant or comparable position at a medium to large healthcare organization.Healthcare reimbursement background, including accounting and ability to drive contract analytics, including payer contracts.Desired:Master's Degree, Business Administration/Health Administration/Finance/Accounting or Certified Public AccountantHealth care finance/accounting experienceMembership in professional organizations and attendance to conferences regarding managementLICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:Desired:Certified Public AccountantSKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:Must have all of the following: Detailed understanding of Medicare reimbursement, financial impact / metrics, and analytics and the ability to analyze community benefit reporting and Attorney General requirements. Detailed understanding of Medicare and Medicaid Cost Reports. The ability to analyze financial data, develop meaningful financial reports for management, discuss financial matters with management, prepare written reports, build financial models, calculate and interpret financial data, analyze economic trends and conditions, develop strategic initiatives, and manage people. Must demonstrate leadership ability. Must have knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements. Must have knowledge of current financial management practices, legislative activity, and trends in the healthcare industry. Must have knowledge of and a demonstrated ability in strategic planning, quality improvement processes, and human resource management. Must have the ability to accurately analyze complex financial and accounting data with extensive knowledge of financial management to include cash flow, IBNR, ROI, debt financing, cost/benefit and portfolio analysis, as well as a clear understanding of accounting practices, financial analysis and modeling, cost controls, reimbursement, contract management, and cost structure management. Must have the ability to communicate. Must have the ability to motivate, delegate, analyze information, problem solve, and make decisions. Must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and demonstrate the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment. Ability to work well under pressure.
