ControllerLocation: Houston, TXIn-Office Mon-FriSummary: Our client is seeking a highly skilled Controller to join their team. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented individual who will oversee the company's financial records and account personnel. You will be responsible for maintaining all procedures and controls related to the company's financial accounts. This role requires strong leadership abilities, exceptional analytical skills, and a deep understanding of accounting principles and practices. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the management and direction of our financial operations.Job Duties
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations of the company. This
includes general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
  • Monitor and analyze financial data, providing accurate and timely reports to senior management for decision-making purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and
legislation.
  • Develop and implement efficient accounting policies, procedures, and internal
controls.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain or improve the accounting closing schedule, check list, and cadence.
  • Fully reconcile all balance sheet accounts to a point where the reconciliations can stand on their own.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and
financial planning activities.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify and resolve discrepancies, improving the accuracy and reliability of financial data.
  • Lead the annual financial audit, and semiannual bank audits.
  • Manage and develop high-performing accounting team, providing guidance,
training, and mentoring as needed.
  • Remain current on industry trends, best practices, and changes in accounting
regulations to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Prepare banking covenants.
  • Consolidate financial reports for multiple business units.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • At least 5-7 years' experience in an Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor, or similar role
  • CPA required
  • In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and
financial reporting standards.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and
variance analysis.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suites (particularly Excel)
  • Proven ability to analyze and problem-solve, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team, fostering a collaborative and
results-oriented work environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact
effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-
paced environment.
  • Commitment to ethical behavior, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism in
handling sensitive financial information.
  • In-depth understanding of accounting processes within a full-cycle manufacturing
environment. Specifically, around inventory, COGS, absorptions accounting, and JOB management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Ability to embrace teamwork with positive attitude.
