CONTROLLERReports to Director of AccountingRESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform monthly financial close functions through preparation of financial statements for each property and consolidated results.
  • Reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Supervise utility accounting team.
  • Assist with accounting for purchasing card program and shared expenses such as payroll, insurance, management fees, and taxes.
  • Provide support to property accountants to ensure transactions are timely and accurate.
  • Assist with year-end close process and preparation for annual tax and financial reporting.
  • Provide support and assistance during the annual financial budget process.
  • Provide training to personnel on internal control compliance, accounting procedures, and financial statement review.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and assist with implementation and training.
  • Special projects as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 3-5 years accounting experience; previous experience in a property management industry strongly preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills and related accounting business systems
  • Must have a strong attention to detail, a positive attitude, and the ability to quickly adapt to change
  • CPA preferred
  • Public Accounting experience preferred
