Finance & Accounting
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, provides high level accounting management in order to insure the integrity of the data going into financial records and to produce financial reports for management and accounting purposes. Oversees accounts payable, receivables, payroll, banking, cash-handling, and other business procedures.
Responsibilities:
* Coordinates annual financial audit and is the Primary liaison with outside auditors.
* Coordinates, reviews, and monitors all client-prepared audit work papers.
* Implements new financial accounting standards as required to issue audited financial statements.
* Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of monthly detailed and summary financial statements.
* Reviews and makes any needed changes before releasing the reports as final.
* Creates reports as needed.
* Prepares simple and complex journal entries for various aspects of the museum's operations.
* Maintains the integrity of the chart of accounts to properly track financial records and allow for efficient financial reporting.
* Works with the relevant staff, provides oversight, guidance and direct support of the payables, receivables, payroll, banking, and cash-handling functions and of other business procedures.
* Recommends and implements the best ways to improve payment and receipt of income processes to increase efficiency and minimize exposure to fraud.
* Accounting and managerial reporting for tax-exempt debt and bond covenant, investments, leases, fundraising campaigns and pledges.
* Pension plans audits and accounting.
* Collaborates with other members of the Finance Office (including the Budget Officer and Manager of Financial Systems) and general Museum staff by providing financial and other information and administrative support as needed for budget, investments, capital campaign, earned revenue centers, and museum-wide business processes.
* Supervises seven department employees, three of whom are direct reports. Also oversees some aspects of work undertaken by several other employees in the Finance Office.
* Performs other duties or special projects as assigned
* Maintains regular and reliable attendance
Benefits:
* The expected annual salary for this Los Angeles, CA based position is $210,000.00 - $230,000.00, subject to change, and the position is eligible for LACMA's comprehensive benefits package, including pension plan.

Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in accounting
* 2-4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* CPA strongly preferred
* Some demonstrated working knowledge of the principles of supervision
* Previous work experience in a nonprofit or educational environment desired.
