Our client in Portsmouth, RI, is seeking a Controller to oversee and coordinate all financial activities and personnel. The Controller will manage setting controls and budgets, conducting internal audits, ensuring compliance with internal controls and corporate policies, and supporting continuous operational and financial improvement. The Controller will also manage a team of three accounting clerks and report directly to senior management. Controller Requirements:
- Minimum of 5-10 years of basic accounting experience
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting and public accounting experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite 365 and QuickBooks
- Proven experience with successfully managing others/teams
- Experience with 3 rd party credit collection companies
- Extremely proactive, with top-tier time management skills
- Experience with electronic filing systems and exceptional data tracking
- Strong treasury skills and fundamental knowledge of GAAP
- Strong cost accounting skills; understanding of mechanics liens and other similar concepts
- Able to work 100% onsite at their office in Portsmouth, RI
Controller Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate all financial activities and personnel
- Complete internal and external audit requirements for manufacturing and distribution sites to assess financial status
- Set controls and budgets to mitigate risk and increase return on investments
- Standardize and maintain a system of accounting records and techniques
- Ensure manufacturing site compliance with internal controls and corporate policies
- Support continuous operational and financial results improvement with a focus on cost savings and operational processes
- Integrate new manufacturing operations into reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and controls/compliance
- Ensure company procedures and policies comply with governing regulations, both federal and state
- Train and mentor direct reports to ensure their professional growth and development, enhancing overall team performance
