Fischione Instruments, an innovator in the field of microscopy and nanotechnology, is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Controller to oversee our accounting operations. The Controller will lead financial reporting, compliance, and the management of accounting staff, including Senior Accountants, and ensure the integrity of accounting information by establishing quality control over financial transactions and reporting.Key responsibilities Manage all aspects of accounting, billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses.Maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting.Oversee payments of all accounts and ensure all accounts are paid on time.Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.Maintain the chart of accounts.Inventory control and optimization.Cost accounting to ensure accurate product costing and sufficient gross margins.Ensure all support related to the financial statements is properly maintained.Supervise the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases, and financial software.Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.Review monthly results and provide management with monthly variance analysis.Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and report significant budget differences to management.Maintain costing system to ensure accurate costing of products and projects.Provide financial analyses and models as needed, specifically capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.Work with the management team to move the company forward. Qualifications 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.CPA or CMA preferred.Experience working with business environments outside of the U.S. is desirable.Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.Experience with creating financial statements and financial reporting.Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).Expert user of accounting software and Microsoft Excel. EducationBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.Experience Proven experience in finance management.Strong leadership and organizational skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Experience with financial reporting requirements.Understanding of cost accounting and variance analysis. Skills A proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will take responsibility for the finance team and all financial reporting.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Ability to manage deadlines and work in a high-pressure environment.Display exemplary ethical behavior when working with confidential financial documents.Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with staff members.Willing to work at all levels related to the accounting function.Excellent understanding of best practices related to accounting processes and financial reporting.
