Washington County Mental Health Services is Where Hope and Support Come Together. Position: WCMHS is actively seeking a Controller to oversee the accounting functions of the agency. Reporting directly to the Assistant CFO, and working closely with the CFO, other members of agency Leadership and management, and external partners, the Controller ensures efficient, effective, and compliant accounting operations in support of WCMHS's fulfilment of its mission of service to the community.Working with a high level of professionalism, integrity, and independence, the Controller performs, manages, and leads the full scope of accounting functions, including review and analysis of financial statements; maintenance of financial records; participation in budget development; performance of internal audits and management of the annual audit; and oversight of all aspects of financial grants and contracts administration, including tracking and reporting. The Controller also leads, supervises, and guides the professional development of the accounting team. Qualifications: The preferred combination of education and relevant experience for this position includes:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field with extensive accounting training.
  • 5 or more years of relevant experience (nonprofit accounting experience preferred); and
  • Supervisory experience; OR
  • An equivalent/comparable combination of experience and education.
Additional requirements for this position include:
  • Expert knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in accounting software (Sage Intacct preferred), payroll software (Paycom preferred), and Microsoft Office products, with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and productively with internal and external partners.
  • Understanding of and commitment to advancing the WCMHS mission and supporting the provision of collaborative and inclusive mental health, development disability, and substance use services.
Compensation and Benefits: This full-time position offers an annualized salary of $95,000 - $105,000 and excellent benefits, including tuition reimbursement/student loan assistance; generous paid time off; employer-sponsored health, dental, life, and disability insurances; and a 403(b)-retirement plan with employer match.
