We're seeking a qualified candidate for controller at York University. The ideal candidate will have experience as an accountant. Candidate needs to be a strong communicator and to be a skilled financial analyst. This person will be assisting with our budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting processes.
Responsibilities:
* Accounting operations: Overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations
* Financial reporting: Preparing and managing financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing cycles
* Budgeting: Assisting the budget process
* Financial analysis: Conducting financial analysis, interpreting financial data, and identifying trends
* Human resources: Answering employee benefit questions, managing employee files, and assisting with hiring and training
Required skills and qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting
* Five or more years of professional accounting experience
* Great skills with computers and spreadsheets
* Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis
* Experience in managing payroll
* Exemplary history of financial accounting technical knowledge
Preferred skills and qualifications:
* Master's degree in accounting
* Five or more years of experience as a senior-level accountant
* Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) preferred
