The Opportunity

A well-established and highly respected mission based charitable organization in Western New York is looking to add a Controller to their team. This individual will be responsible for managing the accounting functions, audits, payroll, financial reporting, grant reporting, donor reporting and the budget process. Responsibilities

The Controller will be responsible for providing management with timely and accurate financial data necessary for budgetary and financial decisions. Responsibilities include:

• Develop and maintain sound accounting practices, fiscal records and financial reports.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements.
• Prepare monthly standard and regular journal entries.
• Prepare month end closing activities and related journal entries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Process payroll on a biweekly basis.
• Provide oversight and management of daily cash management functions.
• Review and maintain all account reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly state and federal payroll reports, sales tax reports and returns.
• Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedule for all annual activity.

Requirements

The successful candidate will possess the following:

• BS in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum of three to five years' accounting experience at a non-profit organization, public accounting firm or corporate entity
• Demonstrated skills in the preparation of monthly financial reports
• Knowledge of budget preparation and management
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
• Experience with payroll, pension plan and benefits administration

At this time, the good faith estimate of the annual base salary range for this position is $80,000 to $85,000. Where a successful applicant is slotted within this range will vary based on legitimate criteria, such as years of experience and skill level.
