Our client is a well-established manufacturing company in Portland, Oregon, seeking a dynamic Controller / Director of Operations to join our leadership team. This blended role will give you the unique opportunity to manage both the financial operations of the company as well as drive operational improvements. Working closely with the ownership group, you'll be instrumental in shaping the company's growth strategy, optimizing efficiency, and ensuring financial health.
Key Responsibilities:- Financial Management: Oversee all financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month-end close processes. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis.
- Strategic Operations: Partner with the leadership team to develop and implement operational strategies aimed at improving efficiency, reducing costs, and optimizing workflows across the organization.
- Cost Management: Monitor and manage costs associated with manufacturing processes. Work with production teams to analyze cost structures and recommend improvements to maintain profitability.
- Process Improvement: Lead initiatives to streamline and improve operational processes, leveraging data-driven insights to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Inventory and Supply Chain Management: Work closely with the supply chain and production teams to maintain accurate inventory levels and ensure timely procurement of materials, balancing operational needs with financial constraints.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance and operations team. Collaborate with the ownership group and other departments to align financial and operational goals.
Qualifications:- 7+ years of experience in a financial management role, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
- Strong background in both accounting/finance and operations management, with experience in cost analysis, inventory control, and process improvement.
- Proficiency in accounting software (ERP systems preferred) and Excel.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with the ownership group, cross-functional teams, and staff at all levels.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing operations, including cost accounting, production planning, and supply chain management.
- Ability to think strategically, analyze data, and drive change in both financial and operational processes.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA a plus).
