Controls Engineer – B Crew

4 Day Work Week!

Shift Hours: Tuesday–Friday, 5:30 PM–4:00 AM

What You Need for This Role

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Programming.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Controls Engineer or Maintenance Technician.
  • 2-4 years of hands-on experience in:
  • PLC programming (Allen Bradley MicroLogic, SLC 500, ControlLogix 5000).
  • Vision systems programming (Cognex, DVT, Keyence).
  • HMI programming (AB PanelView and PanelView Plus).
  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems, including JIT, SPD, ILVS, and batch processes.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in software such as RSLogix 5000/500, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and Ethernet/IP for PC-PLC integration and networking.
  • Experience with manual and automated assembly systems, including both mechanical and control aspects.

Additional Expertise:

  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles (5S, OEE, Kanban, TPM, etc.).
  • Ability to analyze machine performance and implement process improvements.
  • Familiarity with equipment benchmarking and error-proofing device selection.

What You Will Do:

Project Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and track assigned projects from initiation through launch and beyond.
  • Develop and manage capital investment budgets.
  • Collaborate with vendors to identify and implement automation and control solutions.

Process Improvement:

  • Design and program control systems to enhance production efficiency.
  • Implement process improvements using automation and lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Support equipment design and tooling for new projects and engineering-driven changes.
  • Technical Leadership:
  • Program and maintain torque control systems and select error-proofing devices.
  • Provide controls expertise for the selection of equipment and power distribution systems.
  • Support maintenance teams by providing guidance and training to enhance skillsets.

Documentation & Communication:

  • Transfer complete equipment and process documentation to production teams prior to start of production (manuals, BOMs, drawings, spare parts lists, etc.).
  • Collaborate on internal and external communications, including design reviews, capacity analyses, and technical presentations.

Support & Maintenance:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve controls-related issues to minimize production downtime.
  • Benchmark industry processes and incorporate findings into company standards.
