See what opportunities are available at Teel!About the RoleAs the Automation Controls Engineer, you will develop and support multiple aspects of the controls schema at Teel. Areas of New Equipment, Equipment Upgrades, Maintenance Troubleshooting and IT Connectivity for SCADA purposes will be the main focus plus identifying upgrades and deficiencies for all existing automation that resides on the production floor. Additionally, you will identify, research, and analyze new automation, controls and sensor opportunities that will enhance and advance the capabilities of the company.Essential Duties & Responsibilities: (Prefer in descending order of significance)
  • Responsible for Controls Design, Build and Specification of New/Upgraded Equipment
    • Design and development of Automated Equipment Controls Systems in a Manufacturing Environment
    • Advocate for the equipment/controls design needed in new manufacturing equipment purchases or to retrofit existing equipment to make it network accessible
    • Establish vendor relationships to deliver controls equipment and solutions meeting engineering and operational goals
    • Establish unique ways to utilize controls, sensors and vison to increase quality and productivity
    • Build of control panels and wire termination
    • Documentation including Schematics, Panel Layouts and Data Flow
  • Responsible for Maintenance of Equipment
  • Safety upgrade identification and implementation
  • Planned maintenance on controls to meet engineering and operational goals for automated equipment.
  • Use internal and external resources to support unplanned (breakdown) maintenance activities on controls hardware and systems
  • Troubleshooting of Processing controls (Various PID Control including Heat, Pressure, Speed, etc.)
  • Manage control assets, lifecycle, and software/firmware versions
  • Responsible for Continuous Improvement
    • Develop recommendations and justifications for controls enhancements
    • Collaborate with IT and other Teel stakeholder to develop the vision/roadmap for future equipment integration, troubleshooting communication issues and identifying opportunities to leverage machine data
    • Experience within the OT space, designing a controls environment for machine operation, stability, and secure network connectivity
  • Responsible for IT Integration of Equipment
    • Collaborate with IT and participate in troubleshooting efforts to resolve controls/data issues to achieve maximum uptime
    • Assist in supporting the Kepware middleware application and connected devices/tags
    • Collaborate with IT and other Teel stakeholder to develop the vision/roadmap for future equipment integration, troubleshooting communication issues and identifying opportunities to leverage machine data
    • Experience within the OT space, designing a controls environment for machine operation, stability, and secure network connectivity
    • Firm understanding of IIOT best practices and SCADA integration
    • Have a basic understanding of IT networking concepts and protocols.
Requirements:
  • Formal education or skills required to qualify for the position. Specify whether a diploma/degree is required from a technical school or college and in what particular field of study.
  • Associate's Degree in Electrical, Industrial Controls, Industrial Maintenance or directly related field required.
    • Other special training, if any, required to qualify for the position.
  • Familiarity with CAD systems, SCADA, Kepware and MS Office components. Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLC Programming suite, Motion Controller Programming, Networking and communication protocols used with industrial controllers (Ethernet/IP, OPC, etc.)
    • Experience required to qualify for the position. List specific types of experience required, and the typical amount of time required to obtain such experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of PLC Programming experience related to Manufacturing in a data driven environment.
