Location: Channahon,IL, USA
The Controls Engineer will develop projects to upgrade automation for our Joliet operation. This position will work with the project teams and contractors specifying and installing control systems. This position will also provide troubleshooting and repair support for Joliet Operations.
Responsibilities:
* Programming and implementation of control strategies
* Develop and apply strategies to optimize on-going operations using the automation platform and in conjunction with the operating and engineering staff
* Documentation of systems
* Specification of instruments, control equipment, and analyzers
* Responsible for troubleshooting and developing repair strategies for new and existing plant controls equipment
* Oversee the implementation and execution of reliability programs for plant process controls equipment
* Provide project controls advice in regard to procuring controls equipment and how they are to be applied
Education and Experience:
* Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and working as a controls engineer for 3 years.
* Or Associates Degree with PLC certifications and working as controls technician 5+ yrs.
* 5+ years' experience in a process controls engineering role or instrument engineering role
* Experience with the following required:
1. Siemens
2. Allen Bradley
3. MicroMotion Mass Flow Meters
4. Reliance Electric DC drives (FlexPak, MinPak)
5. RVSS (Reduced Voltage Soft Starters)
* Knowledge of typical process industry standards and codes (NEC, NFPA etc.)
* A proven track record supporting process controls in a production environment
* Experience designing for and working in classified locations (i.e. Class 1 Div.1) - explosion proof areas
* Capital project development and execution
* Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
* Knowledge of the following preferred: Wonderware/Aveva, Recipe Management Systems, and Flow Control
