SUMMARY:
The Controls & SCADA Engineer designs, develops work packages, troubleshoots, and continuously improves the Controls and SCADA system including RTUs, RTACs, HMI, and electrical control systems for renewables energy industry. He or She also conducts applicable tests and commissioning complying with local and international codes and standards. He or She may lead small to medium size projects as assigned.
DUTIES:
SCADA/PPC projects execution including RFP(Request for Proposal), concept proposal, engineering design specification, technical/commercial bid evaluation, detailed design, construction, FAT/SAT, commissioning.
Develop engineering work packages, construction work packages, inspection and test procedures, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and operation and maintenance procedures.
Development of SCADA software application, consisting of creating or modifying graphical screens for real-time data, historical trends, alarm management, interfaces for set point entry and manual remote control.
Research, investigate, analyze, design, and implement the Automation Systems technical support to Operation and Maintenance team.
Perform the automation systems data backups and provide user support for data retrieval, creating reports from database.
Visit sites to gather data and/or troubleshoot as needed.
Identify applicable standards and collateral standards for the diverse applicable sites.
Lead any design changes required to ensure standards compliance or continuous improvement.
Perform technical presentations to clients including SCADA, PPC(Plant Power Control), but not limited.
Mentor and train the less experienced engineers and technicians.
Lead and manage the assigned projects with available resources for successful projects completion in a due date and a budget.
Conduct/facilitate risk analysis activities as required.
Perform other duties and/or tasks as required.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronic, or computer engineering preferred.
More than 5 years' experience in SCADA development including Ignition is mandatory.
SEL RTAC experience is considered an asset.
Be familiar with NERC CIP regulatory requirements.
Communication protocol experience required such as Modbus, DNP3, MQTT, OPC UA
Occasional overnight phone calls or travel may be required for client meetings or site visits.
Ability to problem solve and identify root causes as part of investigations.
Ability to work with others in a team environment.
Copies of all certifications is required (translated where necessary)
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to communicate effectively in English.
Communication in Korean is considered an asset.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is based in our ROC (Remote Operation Center) located at Georgetown, TX.
Fast paced with priorities that often change to meet current priorities.
Travel to customer sites is required, and the ability to travel internationally with a valid passport.
Must be legally entitled to work in the USA and prepared to travel abroad.
