Talascend is seeking a professional, skilled individual for our Controls Systems Designer & Programmer position located in Bristol, IN.

OVERVIEW:

We are a high-end, automated machinery builder seeking a Controls Systems Designer & Programmer to support the development of automated machinery. We work on an ever-changing variety of projects for our customers, and produce high-quality, reliable machinery for production environments. We pride ourselves on craftsmanship and quality.

Our client has an immediate need for a Controls Systems Designer & Programmer. Under the direction of the President, the Controls Systems Designer & Programmer will provide technical support for mid-scale to large projects. The Controls Systems Designer & Programmer drives root cause analysis using technical knowledge.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop PLC and HMI programs for new machines and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and functionality.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to understand the project requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Conduct thorough testing and debugging of PLC and HMI programs to identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Provide technical support during the installation and commissioning of new systems, ensuring a smooth transition to production.
  • Continuously optimize and improve existing PLC and HMI programs to enhance overall system performance and efficiency.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians on PLC programming best practices and techniques.
  • Robotics experience is a plus and would be utilized in the integration of robotic systems with PLC controls.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 -7 years of experience in PLC programming and HMI development.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as ladder logic, structured text and function block diagram.
  • Experience with PLC hardware and software platforms, such as Allen-Bradley, Keyence, Siemens or Schneider Electric.
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation concepts and principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and debug complex systems.
  • Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy and precision in work.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and address mechanical issues as they relate to PLC-controlled systems.
