The Control Room Operator Trainee must possess a proven knowledge of steam plant systems and scrubber operations and demonstrate ability to learn the main control board operating procedures and logic and work toward being able to relieve the Control Room Operator during his absence. In addition, a Control Room Operator Trainee must have the ability to perform the job duties of the Journeyman System Operator. This includes the ability to operate individual systems in the plant to support unit operation during normal operating conditions, start-ups and shutdowns. Extensive knowledge of all systems is required for operating and monitoring systems and accurately troubleshooting and diagnosing problems for fast, efficient maintenance work. Special projects such as testing and clearance work will also be required. A CROT is expected to complete the training program, and complete the hours and testing required to become a Control Room Operator within one year.
