The primary responsibility of this role is to provide support during the night shift which involves programming, debugging, and problem solving of highly automated equipment and controls systems including PLCs, HMIs, and electrical circuits. Additionally, responsibilities consist of providing support for continuous improvement and capital projects and analyzing data to attain high equipment reliability and uptime. The Controls Technician works within an environment that requires considerable interaction and collaboration with team members from other departments and support functions. Responsibilities Provides on-shift technical support who leads troubleshooting of automated, controls and electrical systems by prioritizing internal and external customer needs to improve productivity. Research solutions to technical issues and implements solutions on a timely basis. Drives performance improvement using critical metrics to optimize Controls and Automation Systems using continuous improvement, root cause analysis, data analysis, and failure mode and effects analysis. Provides technical support to engineering for capital projects, equipment installation, and upgrades. Develops and delivers training pertaining to automated processes and systems as needed for operations, maintenance, co-workers, etc. Documents and communicates software and hardware changes, on-shift activities, follow-up actions, and project status using visual, verbal, written, and digital communication. Follows all Environmental, Occupational Health, and Safety (EOHS), Quality, Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and Cleaning and 5S standards and company Policies. Required Qualifications High School Diploma 3+ years proven experience in a manufacturing, production or operation environment. Associate degree, Technical Certification, or equivalent work experience in Electronics Engineering Technology (EET), mechatronics or similar field of studies Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's) including Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix and SLC500, and Siemens; Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) Wonderware-based and Allen-Bradley Panelview; VFD and servo drives; I/O; instrumentation; inspection cameras; and robots. Knowledge of and capability to install and troubleshoot industrial automation networks (Ethernet/IP, Devicenet and Profibus) Experience troubleshooting electrical circuits (3 phase 480 VAC, 120 VAC, 24 VAC and VDC control circuits) Practical skills reading, understanding and modifying user documentation (electrical schematic drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals) Capability to analyze process flow to identify issues. Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency using Google Suite applications: Sheets, Docs, Slides, Meets, Forms, gmail, and drive. Ability to work nights, weekends, 12-hour shifts, holidays and flexibility to provide vacation coverage. Requires climbing, bending, kneeling and the ability to lift 50 pounds. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years technical experience in a manufacturing, production or operation environment Proven working experience with food safety regulated environments (AIB, FDA, USDA, cGMP) Bachelor's or associate degree in electrical or computer science related field of studies Experience with Wonderware, ControlLogix, SLC, HMI, SERCOS, Profibus, Devicenet, Ethernet/IP specific systems Experience working with Microsoft SQL databases. Know, understand and interpret NFPA and NEC regulatory standards. Capability to troubleshoot and resolve problems with SCADA Systems and batching processes. Salary Range $63,600 - $102,900 USD Pay is based on several nondiscriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and office location.
